Saving Stardust - Announcement
Southland Collie Rescue is excited to announce a partnership with four other West Coast rescues to help bring 27 collies out of a heartbreaking hoarding situation in Nevada.
What began as a simple call for help from a small shelter in Elko, Nevada to Southwestern Collie and Sheltie Rescue quickly turned into something incredible — a network of compassionate rescuers working together to arrange transport, foster homes, and care for these collies who have never known proper veterinary care, comfort, or stability.
Southland Collie Rescue committed to taking four adults and one 3-month-old collie. But rescue always comes with surprises… and this one came with tiny paws! One of the collies had five beautiful puppies just seven days ago. Their sweet mama, a double dilute merle, has lovingly been named Stardust.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 11, marks the beginning of their new lives. Elko shelter staff will transport the collies to Las Vegas, where they will meet our SCR volunteers. From there, they will continue their journey to loving foster homes in Phelan, Santa Clarita, and San Diego. And so begins, the STARDUST TRAIL.
While we are thrilled to be part of saving these beautiful dogs, rescues like this come with significant costs. Donations help cover transport, food, veterinary care, spay/neuter, vaccinations, crates, and the daily care these dogs will need while they prepare for adoption.
If you would like to help give these collies the fresh start they deserve, please consider donating to Southland Collie Rescue at https://collie.org/donate. Every dollar helps us turn a story of neglect into one of hope, healing, and new beginnings.
Thank you for supporting rescue and for helping us change the lives of these amazing dogs.
Please share and FOLLOW the STARDUST TRAIL as it unfolds!!!
