The Stardust Trail – Part 2

Yesterday afternoon, with Stardust riding shotgun, our collie caravan of nine said their heartfelt “thank you for helping us” to Elko Shelter Manager Alyssa and began the next leg of their journey with transporter Denise, heading toward Phelan, California.

After plenty of potty breaks along the way—and a few cozy snoozes with puppies tucked safely in—Denise arrived around 7 p.m., delivering Stardust, her five little bundles of joy, and a beautiful merle named Silka to Elyse, one of SCR’s wonderful Area Coordinators.

While Stardust and her babies will be calling Elyse’s home their safe haven for a while, Silka’s journey isn’t quite over yet. In the morning, she’ll hop in the car once more for a short ride to her foster home in Santa Clarita.

Denise’s next stop: Riverside. There, Fiona—a gorgeous mahogany sable—and Molly, a lovely light sable—will spend the night at Collie Haven with devoted caretaker Carol Pooler. In the morning, both girls will take the final ride to their foster homes, where they can finally decompress, stretch out on soft beds, and begin to feel the love and security that will now be part of their everyday lives.
