Introducing Starlight’s “Journey”

This little guy had a bit of a rough start to life. Being deaf and mostly blind, his first-time mom, Stardust, in all the excitement of new motherhood, chewed on one of his ears when he was just a tiny newborn. The injury required the shelter veterinarian to amputate most of it.

But don’t worry—this little pup is doing wonderfully.  Mama Stardust is lovingly caring for him and his four siblings just as a good mama should. And that single flappy ear? It only makes this sweet boy even more special and endearing.

Yesterday we shared our heartfelt gratitude to Diane Palumbo and her Starlight and Journey Charity Fund for their beautiful donation to help with the costs associated with the Elko Collie rescue. It felt only right to invite Diane to choose one of the five puppies and give it a name.

Without hesitation, she chose the little one-eared pup—the extra special one—and lovingly named him Journey, in honor of her beloved collie, Journey, who has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

So with great excitement, we introduce you, our collie community, to little Journey. We can’t wait to watch your story unfold, sweet boy.
